Ookido Yukinari-Hakase is an expert on Pokémon. He knows practically everything there is to know about Pokémon. He is usually in his lab in Pallet, conducting experiments and so-forth. He also cares for the Pallet trainers' Pokémon. He has found quite a friend in Satoshi's Betobeton (Muk)!

As you might know, Ookido-Hakase has a grandson named Shigeru, which is Satoshi's friend and rival. Although Yukinari is proud of Shigeru's achievements, he seems to like Satoshi better. Since Ookido is a bag and can't get around much, Satoshi usually runs errands for him. If it wasn't for the GS Ball, how would Satoshi compete in the Orange League and Johto League?

Ookido-Hakase leads a very busy life. When he's not researching, he's feeding Pokémon. After he feeds them breakfast, it's time for lunch! Then after that it's dinner! In his spare time, Ookido-Hakase likes to write poetry. Satoshi's Kurabu (Krabby) makes Ookido tea, then they sit down and come up with some great rhymes!
